Geisinger Cancer Healing Garden
In conjunction with
Wilkes Barre Leadership Class of 2009,
Geisinger Hospital, the Rave family, and
private donors, the Geisinger Cancer
Healing Garden will be installed in May
2009.
The design, main
water feature, discounted plants, and 3
years of landscape maintenance will be
donated by the Rave family in memory of
our mother, Barbra Culp Rave.
Geisinger Hospital
will provide funding for a large part of
the infrastructure construction
including the brick patio, grading, and
an additional water feature.
Wilkes-Barre
Leadership Class of 2009, who initiated
the idea of a cancer healing garden,
will be supplying the volunteer labor
for plant installation and an $8,000.00
donation toward the project.
The rest of the
funding will come from private donors.
The goal of this
project is to provided a place of
tranquility, comfort, and healing for
cancer patients and their families.
